Fun in October

Poor Ryan has been having "little incidents" lately. First he was bitten by Thomas one evening while fighting. Actually they were just wrestling and being rough, then Ryan bit Thomas lightly on the shoulder, and Thomas fought back by biting Ryan on the cheek. It left a bruise on the cheek for about a week. Then a few days later while at Tien Mu, Ryan had a sudden fever of about 39 degrees Celcius. So we let him sleep on the ice pillow like below. It turned out that he had the hand-foot-mouth disease. Ryan's symptoms were not as serious as Thomas who got it 3 days later. Thomas had to skip school for 2 full days and couldn't eat much for 4 days.

October 25th was Thomas 9 year old birthday, but it was a Monday so we celebrated a day earlier on Sunday at Friday's (this sentence is a bit strange....). We chose Friday's because the kids could be noisy without being singled out since everyone else was noisy too. You could still see the bruise on Ryan's cheek. Thomas was wearing a new T-shirt with a fake tie painted on it. And there was a sticker on each side of Mommy's cheek, thanks to the 2 boys.

When Thomas' desset was served, Thomas was pleasantly surprised but obviously a bit scared.

On Monday, we bought a small cake and sang happy birthday. Mommy didn't bring the camera, so Daddy took the photo with his phone.

The next weekend was Halloween weekend. On Friday, Oct. 29th, Ryan's school had the Halloween party with all the students and teachers dressing up. Ryan had been looking forward to that day and couldn't decide on his costume until the night before. Actually there were only 3 to choose from, all passed down by Thomas. One was a tiger, one was Thomas the Train and one was the skeleton. He resented being Thomas because "Thomas is Thomas, I am Ryan....". Well, that's true.

On Oct. 30th, Mommy took the boys out to trick or treat after dinner at Tien Mu. Having the most foreign population in Taipei, Tien Mu area had a series of Halloween celebration for 3 days, with Taipei American School having the school fair, with various booths, performance, parade and many stores joining in the Trick or Treat activity. The kids can go into any store with the big Trick or Treat purple sticker on its door to Trick or Treat. The boys had fun competing to be the first one spotting the next target store and would go in holding hands to ask for candy. Mommy was also wearing a headband with 2 spiders on, but too bad, Mommy forgot the camera again.
