Outing with Classmates

One of Thomas classmate's Mom organized an outing on Oct. 18th as the kids just completed their first section tests of this semester. 15 families went to a farm on Yung Ming Mountain and had fun playing with water and doing 3 DIY activities.

First we used stones to drum the leaves as prints onto the handkerchief. It was really a good way to vent out frustration as the kids stamped the stones with all their mights.

After simple noodle for lunch, we learned to make the Chinese dessert with sticky rice flour. The farm will steam them for us as snack later. The smallest one at the bottom of the photo which looked like a peach instead of a turtle belonged to Ryan.

The third activity was to make a whistle out of plastic bottle, ballon and plastic film. It taught the kids the principle of sound resonance. It sounded like the ocean liner's horn.

There was a creek running through the farm, so these city kids had fun playing with water. There were also plenty of tadpoles, butterfly, dragonfly and the annoying mosquitoes.

Looks like a lot of fun, especially the pounding the stone part :)
